Easy Ways to Fix Typos Using Google Docs for Free

This time I will give a tutorial on how to use Google Docs to fix typos in your documents.

  • A brief history of Google doc

is a word processing service, spreadsheet, presentation as well as web-based document storage from Google which is a combination of several other web services such as Writely, Upstartle, DocVerse which was first launched in 2006 and changed its name to Google Doc in 2012.

There may be many other alternative ways of detecting Typo but I prefer to use Google Docs,

Why because google doc is one of the products from google which is very easy to use and free compared to using other ways such as visiting online sites that offer free tools just to detect typos,

using the website only has a few disadvantages because most of the websites detect not automatically correct the wrong words there are also advertisements which some of us may find annoying.

There is also another way by using the typo checking tool that our document processing software has, like the one I use WPS software, which is an alternative free software Besides Microsoft Office but there are very few languages.

Alright let's start, make sure you have a google account that is already logged in to the browser

Next, you access the google doc website by clicking on this link Google Docs after it is opened as shown above, then we create a new document by clicking the + (Box1) button, wait a few moments until the display changes as shown below.

Now we just need to copy the text into the new document. we wait a while there will be a change from the text that we copy (Box 1) in some words there is a red line that indicates the word is misspelled.

For those who don't see the red line, it may be because we have pasted a lot of text or the connection is not stable so that the typo search engine takes extra time or maybe the text that we copy is not wrong.

But if it doesn't appear it's also possible that the spelling suggestion tool is not active if it's not active you can check it in Tools(Box1) then select spelling and grammar(Box2) and then check whether the display of spelling suggestions is active or not as shown below(Box 3) .

Alright now we know the words that have the wrong spelling and we can correct them manually or can use the spelling and grammar check tool(Box4)” see image above” or with the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+X to use the word correction tool this which can automatically correct misspelled words.

If the tool was already open and it looks like the image below. I will explain what the parts of this tool are to make it easier for us to correct the wrong words

First(Box 1) is an elbow sign ( < > ) this sign is useful for navigating from word to word wrong from first , next > and before < .

second wrong word(Box2) and word suggested by google(Box 3)

Third (Box4) there is an option to ignore and accept if we choose ignore the word that is considered wrong by Google will be ignored and the red line on the word is gone, meaning that Google will no longer mark the word as the wrong word if we accept that we click on the wrong word. will be replaced by the word google suggests(Box 3).

Finally (Box5) is an option that you can access by clicking the menu at the bottom right, the tool is accept and ignore all, meaning that if there is more than 1 similar word changes will be made to all these words.
